The Western Coast of Crimea differs from the Southern one through a milder climate, clean sea and fast acclimatization of guests

Peschanoye settlement

This is a unique climate zone combining the mild Black Sea breezes, the dry climate of the southern steeps and the fragrant pine air. Today, the amount of the sunny days, this place doesn’t lose to the resorts in Alushta and Yalta. The temperature of air in July and August is normally +25–28ºС, while the sea gets as warm as +22–24ºС.

The healthily climate of the Crimean West Coast is combined with the perfect conditions for beach activities – gently sloping bank, shallow waters, clear sand with small pebbles, completely transparent water.

Endless vine-yards and fruit gardens have stretched from the top of the nearby cape of Lukull and eastward straight to the very Bakhchisaray The surroundings are picturesque, one can literally feel the nearness of the mountains - the pride of the touristic industry of Crimea.

Spring is warm and not too long here, by the middle of April the temperature doesn’t fall under the mark of +10ºС. The bathing season often begins in May. Summer normally lasts for a little over four months, being replaced by the so-called “velvet” season by the middle of September. Fine, moderately hot weather prevails in July and August, light breezes occur. Cloudy and rainy weather is very rare. Autumn is mild, sunny, moderately warm and flourishing with fruits. Winter normally comes in the middle of December, and the weather becomes tricky: snow and rare unsubstancial frosts replace rainy days, warm days are also often, sometimes it is as sunny as if it is spring. Steady snows cover only Crimean mountains where the snow usually melts in the middle of March.

The Crimean peninsula is situated in the southern part of Ukraine, on the 45º of northern latitude, on a approximately equal distance from Equator and North pole. The territory of Crimea isn’t large - about 27 000 sq.km. Extension: 207 km North to South, 324 km West to East. The peninsula goes deep into the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, it is connected with Ukraine mainland only by the narrow Perekopsk isthmus. The Kerch channel separates Crimea from the Tamanskiy peninsula, Ukraine – from Russia.

The resorts of Crimea were introduced and became popular around the 1870s, and since than the holiday-makers have been unchangingly interested in the peninsula. The so-called Nikolai’s resorts in the Crimean South Coast – Livadia, Simeiz, Novyi Svet – are situated on approximately the same latitude as the Cote d’Azure and Nizza. Отель Mar le Mar Club hotel is located about 20 km North, in the moderate climate zone.

Undoubtedly, Crimea’s main attraction is the summer vacation facilities on the Black Sea coast with its multifarious beaches – from fine sand to solid rocks. However, in any other time of year this place can offer a unique opportunity to spend an exciting vacation, strengthen your immunity and leave with an ocean of memories. Recently, the so-called wine tourism has been growing more and more popular – the history of wine-making in Crimea is counted in centuries, and the wine factories are reasonably considered to be the pride of Crimea.

The Black Sea is comparatively small. According to the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences’s Institute of Biology of Southern Seas, the mirror of the Black Sea has  area of 423 000 sq.km. The longest extension West to East is 1 160 km, North to South – 600 km. The narrowest distance between Crimea (the cape of Sarych) and the Anatolian coast (the cape of Kerempe) is only 263 km. The maximal depth of the Black Sea reaches 2245 m, and the coast is surrounded by a wide line of shallow waters which are not deeper than 200 m. The sea is warm and comparatively calm, without any notable tides, it prevents the often changes of temperature of the air in the lands, and nourishes the air with particles of sea salt.
Leaf forests of the Crimean mountains are lungs of the peninsula

The variety of landscapes greatly contributes to the uniqueness of the Crimean nature
. The landscapes change every 20-30 km North to South. Three main mountain rows begin in the South-West of the peninsula. The Main (Southern) ridge is 180 km long, it emerges near Balaklava and ends near cape Saint Lucas near Feodosiya The Inner ridge stretches from the Mekkenzievy mountains to the very Staryi Krym. The Outer ridge emerges near the height of Kara-Tau and is heading in the direction of Simferopol. The conventional boarder between the moderate and subtropical climate zones lies along the Southern slopes of the Main ridge.
ГThe mountain forests of Crimea have an outstanding variety of presinctive flora and fauna, and serve as some kind of filters of the atmosphere – a huge accumulating reservoir of the healthily climate of the peninsula.
