The caves of Crimea (the Chatyrdag mountain)

One of the richest with caves places in Crimea is the Chatyrdag massif (The pavilion)
It looks as if this “Pavilion” were separated from the Main Range of the Crimean mountains and “covering” the entire Crimea – you will be observing it all along your way from Simferopol to our hotel. There are over 200 caves here, from 1-2 to over 200 meters deep. Many of the caves are only open to professional speleologists who are trained to use special equipment. On the other hand, some caves of Chatyr-Dag are widely known and equipped for common tourists – we recommend our guests to visit at least one of them. Accompanied by the experienced guides you will submerge into the mysterious world of the ancient dungeons...
The Marble cave is one of Europe's Top 10 most beautiful caves
This is one of the Chatyrdag's best known caves, it is also the most comfortable and best equipped one for untrained tourist groups. You will be in for a fascinating journey through the beautifully illuminated halls of the cave, assisted by the experienced guides you are to wonder at the most diverse figures — you will hardly believe that all these amazing sculptures, carved pillars, fancy crystals are created solely by the forces of water and time without any human interruption. If after a standard excursion you will leave unsatisfied with impressions, you can go in for an extreme 3-hour excursion into the unequipped halls of the cave, with special speleological equipment and accompanied by a well-trained guide.
The Cave of Emine-Bair-Khosar
It is the most popular “competitor” of the Marble cave, - that's why about 15 years ago it was equipped for touristic excursions, and illuminated. The halls of Emine-Bair-Khosar are amazingly huge. The cave has three levels – the Upper, the Middle, and the Lower. The overall length of the cave is 2 km, the depth is 125 m. The stalactites, stalagmites, pillars, crystals and figures are blindingly diverse. Inside the cave you will wonder at the transparent lakes the deepest of which is 8 meters deep.
Kyzyl-Koba (the Red Caves)
This is an entire labyrinth of multilevel limestone caves, over 13 km long, The Indian Hall and the Chinese hall are the most beautiful ones in here, with their amazing dripstones. The part of the cave closest to the surface is well equipped and illuminated and suitable for tourists of any age. However, Kyzyl-Koba's most interesting halls are guarded with a mighty underground river – the bravest ones are to dive with aqualungs through the traprocks (the halls completely filled with water) and see some even more amazing underground rooms over 40 meters tall, decorated with arabesque stalactites and stalagmites.
The locality of the Kyzylkobinka river also has to offer an interesting archaelogical monument - our ancient ancestors who had lived in the Iron Age in the area of Kyzyl-Koba (the so called “culture of Kyzyl-Koba”) would later inhabit the entire Steppe Crimea and the Northern Black Sea region.
